A sophomore at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music, Sophie Jung has been an active musician and flutist in her community for several years. She participated and competed in several competitions and music camps, including the NYU Woodwind Institute Summer program, Mimi Stillman’s Flute Choir and Ensemble, the Jeffrey Khaner Flute Festival at Curtis Institute of Music, the New York Flute Club Young Musicians Contest, the International Grand Music Competition, and the Prima Volta Music Competition. These opportunities gave her the opportunity to perform onstage in prestigious venues such as Kauffman Center, Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall.  She has attended and participated in master classes with Keith Underwood, Sir James Galway, Carol Wincenc, Mimi Stillman, Katharine Rawdon, and Molly Barth. Sophie received the James Rotundo Palisades Park Mayor Award for placing first, and was invited to perform a solo for a class in MLK Kaufman Music Center at Broadway in NYC. In addition to being active in the musical community, she uses her talent to bring comfort to the people in need by performing for several charity drives for the elderly and children in need. Her teachers include Soo-kyung Park, Nadine Hur, Keith Underwood, and Mimi Stillman.
An all-around active person, Sophie loves to do taekwondo with her father, watching animal videos and wildlife on campus, and spending time with her family.
