
Sandra López is a flutist based in New York City. Her performance style ranges from classical music, to modern avant garde styles, popular music, and film scores. Her passion for chamber music is one of her most distinctive musical facets.As a former member of the Symphony Orchestra of Antioquia and the Amadeus Youth Orchestra (Colombia) she performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Medellín, Colombia, her native country. Sandra has been part of theater productions such as Macbeth by W. Shakespeare, conducted by Juan David Osorio, and in jazz concerts with EAFIT University’s Big Band. López is currently pursuing a master’s degree at The State University of New York (SUNY Purchase) under the direction of GRAMMY Nominee Dr. Tara O’Connor, a Season Artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and one of the city’s most prolific concert and session flutists. Sandra completed her undergraduate studies at EAFIT University (Colombia) with professors Leon Giraldo and Elizabeth Osorio. Some of Sandra’s professors from past masterclasses and workshops include Miguel Villanueva (Universidad Autonoma de Mexico), Robert Dick (New York University), Judith Mendenhall and Keith Kimmel (Mannes School of Music), and Vincent Lucas (Conservatoire de Paris).
